From Lens to Legacy: Featured on the 500 AED Banknote

It’s a surreal feeling to know that something I captured through my lens is now part of the visual identity of the UAE — in people’s hands, in their wallets, and in circulation for years to come.
The Terra Pavilion, with its bold architecture and powerful message of sustainability, has always been one of my favorite subjects. Seeing it now engraved into national currency is something I never imagined — and I’m proud to have contributed, even in a small way, to that legacy.
I’ve spent than 15 years years in the United Arab Emirates building my career. This country has given me so much — and this is the least I can give back in return.
For three unforgettable (and often challenging) years, I worked as a photography consultant for Expo 2020 Dubai — documenting every corner of the site, from the first foundations to opening day. I still remember those early mornings and long days, walking the grounds daily, always chasing a new composition, a fresh perspective, the perfect shot. That persistence paid off.
Another proud milestone: the 500 Dirham note featuring my image was just awarded ‘Best New Banknote Issue’ for 2025 in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region.
Massive thanks to everyone who’s supported my work over the years — and to the incredible teams behind the scenes who made this moment possible. Humbled, grateful, and more motivated than ever to keep creating.
Dany,
