Photographing the architecture of Expo 2020 Dubai over three years was one of the most meaningful projects of my career. It gave me the opportunity to study the pavilions, districts and public spaces closely, exploring how their design expressed ideas about culture, innovation and identity.

Seeing my photographs included in Assouline’s Expo 2020 Dubai books gave that work a lasting place in print.

Photographing the Architecture

My approach centred on light, form and detail, looking for photographs that conveyed both the character of individual buildings and their place within the wider site.

The variety of architecture made the project particularly rewarding. Each pavilion offered a different visual language and a different challenge: how to translate its scale, materials and design into photographs that communicated the experience of the space.

From Photographs to Books

The Assouline publications bring together the architecture and ideas of Expo 2020 Dubai through a series of dedicated volumes. For me, contributing photographs to these books was an opportunity to share the work beyond the site itself, reaching readers interested in architecture, design and photography.

The books shown below offer a glimpse of that published work, alongside a selection of photographs from the project.

A Shared Achievement

This was a collaborative effort. I am grateful to the photographers of the Expo 2020 Dubai media team and to the management team whose support helped make the work possible.

The books remain a meaningful record of those three years, bringing together the architecture I photographed and the collective effort behind its documentation.
