About the Project

Designed by Asymptote Architecture, W Abu Dhabi, Yas Island is one of the city's most distinctive architectural landmarks. Positioned across the Yas Marina Circuit, the hotel consists of two towers connected by a bridge spanning the Formula 1 racetrack.

Its defining feature is a sweeping steel and glass gridshell that envelops the buildings, creating a continuous geometric surface. During the day, its diamond-shaped panels reflect the surrounding light and landscape, while an integrated LED lighting system transforms the structure after dark.

My photographic series focuses on the relationship between architectural form, geometry and illumination. From the rhythm of the gridshell to the changing colours and reflections of its façade, the images explore the building's distinctive character and its connection to the Yas Marina setting.
