Architectural photography of a blue mosaic landmark in Qatar Foundation’s Education City.
Client: Qatar Foundation · Location: Education City, Doha, Qatar · Architect: Martand Khosla · Photography: Dany Eid · Year: 2025
About the project
Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum is the world’s first museum dedicated to the modernist painter Maqbool Fida Husain. Launched by Qatar Foundation, it opened in Doha on 28 November 2025. The name translates roughly as “tablet and pen.”
I was assigned to photograph its architecture: the blue mosaic skin, the pointed arches, and the white tower beside it.
The architecture
Designed by New Delhi-based architect Martand Khosla from a 2008 sketch by Husain, the museum is a composition of rectangular and cylindrical volumes of about 3,000 square metres. Hand-laid mosaic covers the façades, marked with sculpted relief shapes that change with the light.
The photography
Detail: Close-ups of the mosaic, arches and shadows.
Context: The museum and its white tower among Education City’s trees and plants.
Dusk: The reliefs and tower lit against twilight skies.
Aerial: The roofs, canopies and campus layout from above.
