King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD)
King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) is where architectural innovation meets cultural depth. Its design seamlessly blends futuristic forms with traditional influences, creating a truly global urban environment. From the striking KAFD Metro Station by Zaha Hadid to the serene KAFD Mosque, and an array of buildings with unique forms that harmonize together, the district embodies a bold vision of modern city living.
What sets KAFD apart is not just its iconic skyline, but its human-centric design. A vast, continuous skyway network connects the district, prioritizing walkability while maintaining a strong dialogue with the surrounding desert landscape. With contributions from over 25 world-leading architectural firms, the masterplan reflects sustainability, innovation, and forward-thinking design.
I had the privilege of spending a full week photographing this extraordinary place. Each day revealed new perspectives—the play of light on glass façades, the rhythm of geometric patterns, and the dialogue between contemporary design and regional traditions. Capturing KAFD was not only a creative challenge, but also an unforgettable experience of witnessing how architecture shapes the way we interact with space.
