About the Project

Inspired by the flowing lines of a superyacht, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab brings sweeping curves and layered terraces to Dubai’s coastline. Designed by Shaun Killa, the building conveys a sense of movement through its form, with balconies tracing the façade and extending its horizontal lines towards the sea.

The architecture is closely connected to its setting. A large entrance arch frames views towards Burj Al Arab, while the separation between the hotel and residences preserves views of the landmark. Together with Jumeirah Beach Hotel, these buildings create a coastal sequence shaped by nautical references, from a wave and a sail to the silhouette of a yacht.

My aerial photographs explore these relationships from above, revealing the rhythm of the terraces, the curves of the roofline and the building’s position beside the marina. I was drawn to the way light defines its surfaces and how the wider view brings architecture, beaches and sea into a single composition.
