About the Project

Where Architecture, Art and Nature Meet

Located in Khalid Lagoon, Sharjah, Al Noor Island is a unique destination where contemporary architecture, landscape design and nature come together.

Developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and designed by German studio 3deluxe, the island opened in 2015, featuring lush gardens, sculptural installations and winding pathways. At its heart stands the iconic Butterfly House, distinguished by its flowing golden canopy and intricate geometric patterns.

Through aerial architectural photography, Dany Eid captures the relationship between the island's distinctive structures, natural landscape and surrounding urban environment.

Architecture, Landscape and Nature

Designed by 3deluxe, the Butterfly House is the architectural centrepiece of Al Noor Island, featuring a sculptural golden canopy with intricate floral-inspired aluminium elements. Its flowing form creates a striking contrast with the surrounding greenery, while natural light highlights its geometry and patterns.

The island's landscaped gardens, winding pathways and sculptural pedestrian bridge connect architecture with nature and the surrounding waters of Khalid Lagoon.

Through aerial photography, Dany Eid captures the harmony between the Butterfly House, the organic curves of the bridge and the lush landscape, revealing a distinctive relationship between contemporary architecture and the natural environment.
