Al Hamra Tower

About the Project

Al Hamra Tower is one of Kuwait City's most distinctive architectural landmarks. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and completed in 2011, the 412-metre skyscraper is recognised for its sculptural silhouette, twisting geometry and distinctive limestone façade.

The building's asymmetrical form responds to the surrounding climate, maximizing views of the Arabian Gulf while reducing solar heat gain. Its contrasting glass and stone surfaces create a striking relationship between light, texture and form.

Through this architectural photography series, Dany Eid documents the tower's monumental scale, distinctive geometry and presence within the Kuwait City skyline, exploring how natural light and perspective reveal the character of this remarkable building.
